As part of its goal to advance science and support NASA efforts, Sigma Space sponsored Chief Support Scientist Peter Griffith's efforts to host and organize the April 2010 meeting of the Science Steering Group (SSG) of the North American Carbon Program (NACP) in Washington, D.C.
The NACP is a core element of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) and is charged with providing decision-support-quality data on sources and sinks of carbon-based greenhouse gases to policymakers at the federal and state levels.
The central objective of the U.S. North American Carbon Program is to measure and understand the sources and sinks of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), and Carbon Monoxide (CO) in North America and in adjacent ocean regions.
Through its meetings and other interactions, the SSG provides scientific advice to the federal program managers on the Carbon Cycle Interagency Working Group at the USGCRP. More information on the NACP and USGCRP can be found at the following web sites http://www.nacarbon.org and http://www.globalchange.gov
